This as state health commissioner dr.kristina box says the majority of covid-19 deaths are coming from long term care facilities.

News 18's meredith hackler joins us now with how the guards deployment plan will work.

Meredith, what have you learned?

Jeff and sam - the national guard will deploy service members in three different teams across the state of indiana.

Here is how it will work.

On monday 399 of the 13-hundred national guard men and women will be deployed to the 133 long-term care facilities that have been hit the hardest.

By mid-november the national gaurd will broaden it's support to all 534 long-term care facilities in the state.

All service members will recieve a a covid-19 test before they start assisting at long-term care facilities and they will be regularly monitored for the remainder of their service.

Soldiers will assiste nursing homes with multiple covid-19 measures.

Infection control measures and monitoring..

Cvoid-19 prevention checklists... data entry..

Registration for testing and staff and visitor screen and welness checks.

The state health department will be providing soldiers with scrubs and personal protective equipment.

Inlcuding n-95 and surgical masks..

Gloves..

Goggles and gowns.

Long-term care facilities that have high numbers of not only residents with covid-19 but also staff members will recieve assistance first.

Guard members will be deployed to facilities until the end of december.
