The BJP has released its manifesto for the upcoming Bihar Assembly Election and the focus seems to be on jobs, healthcare and the education sector. The manifesto was released by Union Finance Minister and BJP leader Nirmala Sitharaman and senior leaders Bhupender Yadav, Nityanand Rai, Ashwini Choubey, and Pramod Kumar. The BJP promised to provide free Covid vaccination to all in the state once it was developed. The manifesto comes a day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi hits the campaign trail. The BJP's manifesto speaks about the Prime Minister's vision of making 'Atmanirbhar Bihar'. The party has also promised to provide medical, engineering and technical education in Hindi and promised to appoint 3 lakh new teachers across different levels in the next year. This comes as the Mahagathbandhan in its manifesto has promised 10 lakh jobs in its very first cabinet meet if elected to power. Bihar will vote in three phases between October 28th and November 7th. The mortal remains of Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) founder leader Ram Vilas Paswan was being taken to his residence from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on October 09. Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan was present outside AIIMS along with other party workers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his last respects to Ram Vilas Paswan at his residence in Delhi. BJP national president JP Nadda, Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan also paid their last respect to Ram Vilas Paswan. Union ministers Ravi Shankar Prasad, Giriraj Singh and MoS Ashwini Kumar Choubey came along with PM Modi to pay tribute. Paswan passed away at the age of 74 on October 08. He recently underwent heart surgery in Delhi. He has served as the Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution in Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government. His son Chirag Paswan broke the news on his Twitter account.
BJP MLA from Pirpainti, Lallan Kumar Paswan on November 26 handed over transcript of alleged phone call he received from jailed Lalu Yadav, to police. RJD chief allegedly asked him to not to vote in the election for State assembly Speaker's post. "We decided to lodge an FIR against Lalu Prasad under the Prevention of Corruption Act, based on his telephonic conversation with me, where he tried to tempt me and asked me to be absent from Bihar Assembly. This is how these people are playing with democracy," said MLA Paswan.
Ahead of the voting for the post of Speaker post, RJD MLAs created ruckus in Bihar Vidhan Sabha on November 25. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav showed rulebook to pro-tem Speaker Jitan Ram Manjhi. During the ruckus, pro-tem Speaker Manjhi said, "Those who are from other House aren't voting for Speaker election, but no problem in their presence." Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Education Minister Ashok Choudhary were present in the Assembly. The NDA has unanimously declared BJP MLA Vijay Kumar Sinha's name as the candidate while Mahagathbandhan has declared RJD MLA Awadh Bihari Choudhary as its candidate for the Speaker post. Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Vijay Sinha elected as the Speaker of Bihar Assembly. The winter session of the 243-member Bihar Assembly is underway until November 27.
The members of Left trade union blocked railway track at Belgharia station in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district. They are protesting against Centre's new labour and farm laws on November 26. A demonstration was also held in Kolkata during a nationwide strike today. On the other side, Members of Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation, CPI(M) and Congress blocked railway track in Jadavpur as trade unions observed nationwide strike against new labour policies introduced by the Centre.
Massive ruckus was witnessed in the Bihar Assembly during the election for the post of Speaker. RJD MLAs led by Tejashwi Yadav objected to the presence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and minister Ashok Choudhary in the house. Protem Speaker of Bihar Assembly Jitan Ram Manjhi, countered Yadav’s claim. ‘Those from the other House aren’t voting for Speaker election, but there is no problem with them being present here,’ Manjhi said. As per the data released by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India on November 26 reported single-day spike of 44,489 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. 524 deaths in the same period, pushing the COVID-19 toll in the country to 1,35,223. India's confirmed cases of coronavirus stand at 92,66,706 which include 4,52,344 active infections. More than 86,79,138 people have recovered from the virus with 36,367 new discharges in last 24 hours. According to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 10,90,238 samples were tested on November 25. Cumulative samples tested for COVID-19 till November 25 are 13,59,31,545.
