At four.

Matrix the fight for the white house is down to just a few states.

I'm kimt news three's george mallet?

"*with both the trump and biden team's strategies and when the final count could be complete.

We're asking those who are just fed up and tired please return to what you were doing this summer.

Kimt news three first at 4 starts right now.

Good afternoon and thank you for joining us for kimt news 3 first at 4.

I'm katie lange the race to determine the next president of the united states of america is coming down to a few battleground states where ballots are still being counted.

Kimt news 3's george mallet has been watching the count closely and joins us with an update.

Election and katie?

"* key states are very close to concluding the vote count.

This race will of course be decided by the electoral college vote.

It takes 270 electoral votes to become president.

At this hour, former vice president joe biden has 264 electoral votes.

For his part, president donald trump has 214.

Arizona, nevada and georgia are getting closer to wrapping up their vote counts.

"the anticipation is we'll continue to go through the process today and into the evening if necessary."

(gfx) democratic nominee joe biden holds a slight lead in the western states and president trump has an edge in georgia.

(/gfx) if biden picks up two of those states he will be president.

"its clear that we are winning enough states to reach 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency."

Pennsylvania could send biden to the white house.

President trump is leading there but most outstanding ballots are in democratic friendly areas.

(sot: joe biden/(d) presidential nominee) "i feel very good about pennsylvania.

Virtually all the remaining ballots to be counted were cast by mail."

(gfx) the president's tweeting "stop the count!"

(/gfx) the president promised he would send in the lawyers and that's exactly what he's doing with the campaign filing lawsuits in multiple states.

The trump campaign won a lawsuit in pennsylvania this morning doing away with a rule keeping poll watchers six feet away from ballot counters.

"they have moved the barrier up to six feet.

But, they took away the ballot machines that were in the front row and moved them to the back of the building."

Republicans say they are planning to file a new lawsuit in nevada on top of lawuists already filed in georgia and michigan ?

"* and a demand for a wisconsin recount.

(sot: fmr. gov.

Scott walker/(r) wisconsin) "you're talking about less than 1%, point?

"* seven percent of the vote is the difference between the two candidates and as you just alluded to, it's about 21,000 votes."

// "typically hundreds, not thousands of election the biden camp has started fundraising to help offset legal costs.

It has also set up a website to begin the transition process.

We are very close to ending the count, katie.

Still that count is certain to be disputed.

Speaking of the transition, joe biden's transition team is vetting a handful of republicans for possible cabinet appointments.

Past presidents including george w.

Bush, bill clinton and barack obama have all done the same.

That tradition, though, ended with president donald trump.

In order to keep friends and families healthy and ease the strain on our hospitals everyone has to rededicate to following proven safety practices.

Rathgaber says the lack of consistency can impact the rise in covid hospitalization s which threatens community care.

< we're asking folks, once again, despite the fatigue to step up.

Do what they did this summer and help us care for the whole community.

As health systems we can't do it alone because of the crush of the increase so those folks that are following the guidelines thank you, it makes a difference.> coronavirus the health systems say as the holidays approach and we enter into flu season... it's even more important to not let our guard down..
