Gov. Ivey Extends safer at home order

On wednesday!

Here in alabama -- as we wait for an update from the department of health--here's where we stand now.

The state added nearly 11- hundred total cases in the past 24 hours.

That brings the total number of cases to nearly 170-thousand.

More than 22-thousand of those are from the past 2 weeks.

This morning a live look over huntsville -- as businesses owners are adjusting to a newly extended safer at home order from governor ivey.

Waay31s sierra phillips is live at the madison county health department.

Sierra, what does this mean for businesses?

The new order goes into effect this sunday when the previous order was set to expire.

There were a few changes made to the safer at home order and some businesses will see looser restrictions.

Stores, gyms and entertainment venues can now operate at full capacity.

Close-contact businesses can also increase capacity as long as people are wearing masks and are separated by plexi-glass.

We spoke with a the general manager of a drake's restaurant in huntsville.

The current coronavirus restrictions caused them to lose the use of 8 tables and several bar seats.

And they say they're happy about this new change.

Lucien desselle, drake's general manager we were hoping that this was something that was going to be coming eventually and now that it has we can definitely start opening up our inside restaurant to 100% capacity.

Drake's already has some plexiglass installed and they're working on dividers for the bar area.

The mask order is extended until december 11th at 5pm.
