New computers provide additional resources to Houston students

The Houston School District issued new computers to students to use for the remainder of the semester.

I'm here outside of houston high school where you can still see behind me teachers and staff distributing hundreds of brand new laptops to students.

Teachers and staff stood outside the school to hand out the new chrome books to students from the safety of their own vehicles.

The school district received over 1 thousand new laptops... giving every student from grades five through 12 a new personal computer.

All students had to do was pay a 25 dollar fee .

John ellison is the principal at houston high.

He said these chrome books are vital for his students.

Continue to teach them."

"it's very important.

It gives them the opportunity to work on the same device in school and at home.

It gives an opportunity to just give them more academic resources and in the event that they're not in school, whether it be weather or sickness or anything like that, we can still continue to teach them."

Houston staff will be back out here handing out more laptops tomorrow starting at 9 am.
