Scores and higlights

Round two.

We had teams all across our area chasing a state championship.... but first you gotta get to round three.

The guntersville wildcats are a perfect 11-0 entering their home game against pleasant grove, who is the 5a runner up from last season... this was the game to watch in north alabama this week.

Wildcat fans packed the stands and were loud all night supporting their boys on the field.... pleasant grove trying to get things started with a hand off, jordan griffin for the wildcats aint having it.

Big stop there, but pleasant grove would find the end zone on a short run to top off the drive..

Guntersville ball..

Cole mccarty rolls out yep evan taylor catches this one.

First down, wildcats on the move.

Right at the goal line, you're watching number 10 there logan pate... he crosses the line, touch down is called.

But he comes up without the pig skin.

Oh no... crowd already cheering, but its' gonna be pleasant grove ball.

Awful break there for guntersville.

Spartans would score on that next drive, missed point after 13-0... check out the bunnies on jack harris.

Wildcats on the move.

Mccarty to harris again... guntersville cuts lead to 13 to 6.

Coach reese is pumped... final 41-21.

Lets go out to the two time reinging state champs in fyffe.

It's always a fun time in red devil country... max, did all of fyffe come out to see this second round mathcup.

This is a team that knows a thing or two about winning -- back to back 2-a state champions and undefeated this year ... in fact they've beaten every team they played by at least 25 and tonight held a 28 -7 lead at half which is where we'll pick this one up.... after recovering a fumble on the kickoff the red devils add to their lead as ike row -l pushes his way through the wellborn defense -- increasing fyffes lead to four scores... with only seven points on the board it looks like the panthers have something going as jett smith gets free and takes off on a long run before getting knocked out of bounds... but just a few plays later the panthers would cough the ball up and the red devils are back on the attack.

Row-l again taking the carry this time -- shoving off defenders before falling in for another touchdown.

Now it's 42 to 7.... the panthers we'ren't done yet though -- calvin spinks on the handoff this time -- he's into open space but runs into a brickwall -- justin stiefel on hit.

Spinks somehow hangs on and the drive continues.... now knocking at the door --brayden williams is able to push it across for six...but that would be all for wellborn.... fyffe takes this one 42 to 13...their quest for a third straight state title continues next week... thanks max.

It was a fun night out in florence.

Mars hill panther fans are cheering on their team in round two against the westbrook christian warriors start of the game mars hill ball- qb griffin hanson drops back and throws the ball deep into the redzone and mars hill's damian thompson is there to catch it and bring home the first touchdown of the game.

Warrior ball- qb william noles hands it off to karmichael cattling but mars hill's jake mccluskey isn't letting him gain a yard and the warriors actually lose yards with that tackle.

Next play- the ball slips between noles' hands and it's a loose ball.

It seems like no one can catch it.

The warriors eventually recover it but can't do anything with it.

Mars hill ball- hanson hands it off to sam williams and he takes it down the sideline gaining a first down for the panthers.

Same drive- hanson holds onto it and drops back again throwing another rocket to the endzone.

Mars hill's lan whiteside makes it look too easy to get the touchdown.

Panthers up 14 to 0 in the first quarter.

Westbrook ball- noles tosses it up in the air and it's picked off by mars hill's griffin hanson.

Next play- hanson drops back and for a third time he does it again making a beautiful throw to hunter kilpatrick who gets another mars hill touchdown.

Mars hill takes this one 56-21.

Lots of pep and crowd energy in the air at madison academy tonight, but could that pep get them to the top?

The mustangs hosted northside and early on it looked likely.

Everything was turning up mustang maroon in the first quarter.

Two touchdowns for madison academy and squat for the rams. but then with about a minute to go in the first half, rams know they have to deliver to have prayer.

Quarterback braden green, after a series of failed handoffs, decides to take matters into his own hands.

He takes a dash down the sideline.

Steady, barely staying in bounds.

And it's signed, sealed, delviered, touchdown northside.

The rams are in this.

Second half, the competition tunred on.

Scored volleyed back and forth.

The ultimate winner, northside squeaks it out 28-21.
