To fight the virus.

Happening now, parents and athletes are filling up a lauderdale county board of education meeting!

They have concerns regarding the district's decision to cancel extra cirricular activies for two weeks and moving classes online because of the coronavirus.

Waay31's breken terry is live outside the meeting, breken what are parents telling you?

Parents told me they are coming here to voice their concerns about the board of education's decision.

Right now the school system has more than 600 students in quarantine because of covid exposure, plus about 60 active cases that's why the school system cancelled all sports until november 30th.

That means basketball games can't be played, no practices and no activity.

Brooks high school boys basketball went to the finals last year and losing these two weeks could hurt their chances.

Parents told me they're asking the board to allow the kids to play without fans in the gym.

One player told me it was devestating learning they couldn't play .

It's devastating.

We go told right before practice.

Everyone had their jersey's on getting ready and he came in tears.

Everyone just started going in it was terrible brooks basketball team had to give up playing four games but they hope that changes.

This building where the board of education meeting is taking place can hold about 60 people safely with social distancing guidelines.
