Chelsea Smith takes us to small businesses in Kentucky, which need some extra help on Black Friday.

Especially during a time of covid local businesses you could use your help in order to survive... abc 36's chelsea smith talked with local store owners on the help they need from you l3: abc 36 news white howard rackmil worlds apart owner vance: "even if you're not spending as much as you usually would, maybe get a little creative and spend less, but spend it locally."

This is the message local store owners and downtown lex partnership in lexington are stressing more than ever due to covid for black friday shopping and small business saturday... mcdonald: "these businesses have invested in our community for years and now is a time that they really need our support in order to stay afloat."

Jenna vance... owner of serendipity in lexington... says owning her own boutique has been her dream... she started her business online before moving it to her store almost four years ago... vance: "c vid has been rough, so year four has definitely been our hardest year yet."

She says while she's not at the point of having to close her doors... she has thought about it... and hopes next year shopping and events get back to normal... vance: "realistically, we cannot and most businesses cannot sustain this."

Not only are store owners stressing shopping local they're also stressing shopping locally online...like worlds apart owner howard rackmil.

Rackmil: "when you're going to shop online, if you are, check us out first."

The business is also making it easier to shop in- person...safely...fr ee of crowds...by simply making an appointment.

Rackmil: "after 5 o'clock you can have a private shopping experience."

Vance: "i try to make it as accessible to shop on social media and get it delivered, you can do it curbside pickup."
