Covid Christmas concert to air on WKTV

Rehearsal for the concert took place at St.

Patrick's -St.

Joseph's church in Utica

This evening you probably heard some very festive holiday music coming from inside.

<nat sots of singing > performers were rehearsing for an upcoming covid christmas tv special and our cameras got a sneak peak.

The event is a fundraiser for "for the good incorporated" and its programs to help people overcome poverty.

Among those scheduled to perform, grammy award winner joanne shenandoah, tk howard and local artists like cassandra harris- lockwood and doc woods.

Organizers say with all the restrictions in place due to the coronavirus, there will probably be few, if any, local holiday concerts to lift people's spirits in a year when they need it most.

"our nation is in such tumult right now.

There's so much anger, and even hate, and confusion and pain.

We have a multi- cultural outlook on the world, and life, and this nation, and we can bring it in song.

We can demonstrate to people what it looks like to sing and live in harmony."

The covid christmas tv special airs tuesday december 22nd from 7 to 8 pm, and can be viewed on wktv's cbs-utica.
