Today we are learning more about the tactics employed by law enforcement yesterday to take down an active shooter.

I'm here at skyline plaza in albert lea..now this might look like an empty parking lot but yesterday this is where law enforcement were camped out.

Close to two dozen law enforocement agencies took shelter here in this make shift command center.

Freeborn county sheriff kurt freitag says they've trained for moments like this... they depended on tools such as robots, helicopters and drones.

Resources and personel provided by the neighboring agencies helped them execute their plan.

"we used our own drone through the entire event.

We were able to find what window he was shooting from.

And our drone is equipped thermal imaging with zoom capabilities.

Our swat team even threw robot inside and drove it into the area on the third floor to keep an eye to make sure that he doesn't leave his apartment."

Freitag says he is so thankful for all the freitag says that three drones were used in yesterdays mission.

At one point weiland shot at the drones but luckily the drone didn't sustain any damage.
