ATLANTA, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) - Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger launched an investigation into groups promoting fraudulent voter registration.

The georgia secretary of state's office launched an investigation... into groups promoting bogus voter registration.

A news release from brad raffensperger's office says... america votes, vote forward, and the new georgia project are all under investigation.

The groups are accused of repeatedly trying to register dead, out-of-state, and ineligible voters.

Raffensperger says he has the proof.

In georgia... false registration is a felony.

And anyone organizing or financing the fraud... could be charged with racketeering.

You now have less than a week to register to vote if you plan to vote in the upcoming runoff election to decide georgia's seats in the u-s senate.

That registration deadline is monday, december 7th.

You have until january first to request an absentee ballot, either online, by mail, fax or in person.
