Overnight, community activists gathered in rosa square park to host a vigil honoring homicide victims in macon.

The city set a grim record with 50 killings this year.

The groups macon headspace and freedom for all, wanted to honor these victims with a candelight ceremony.

Each name was read aloud, as well as the person's age.

The groups wanted to emphasize that these victims are more than just a number.

Rowdy soloman attended the event, and recited poetry to honor the victims. he says he hopes the community comes together after seeing this event.

"seeing all of us come together, was the greatest thing that i could ever see in our city, we need more of that.

It doesn't matter what color you are, it doesn't matter what environment that you come from, you know love is going to be the main thing that we need here, and just being open.

Because love is an action, and love is being willing to overcome everything that we've been through."
