DA rules shooting of Muhsin Sharif lawful

The suspect was shot twice, District Attorney Patty Perlow said.

News at 5" we begin tonight.... with new developments in last month's officer involved shooting in eugene... that sent a man to the hospital..

And left some in the community outraged.

The lane county district attorney's office says the shooting is justified.

Let's get right to kezi nine news reporter connor mccarthy -- live from west 2nd avenue and madison street -- with our top story.

Matt and renee-- the three page timeline says muhsin sharif was shot twice by eugene police officers in the upper left chest and his left hip in this alley way behind me.

The d-a ruled the shooting justified after reviewing multiple video clips from that day.

The d-a's office says they will not release all the video evidence but they did release this video.

You can see officers swarming into the alley way behind oakshire brewery.

This started mid morning, on november 30th.

The deputy district attorney received a text from the domestic violence victim that said "he beat me up, he's here" the deputy d-a was in contact with the woman, because sarif had already violated a pennsylvania restraining order.

Officers located sharif at the washington- jefferson park... and he was threatening officers with a knife and yelling "i'll kill you."

This is what happened next.

Stop man, drop the knife, drop the knife, i'll shoot you, i'll shoot you."

Even after sharif was shot -- he held onto the knife.

He told officers he couldn't drop it... so they tased him... so it was safe to give him medical care.
