TERRE HAUTE, Ind.

(WTHI) - Police say an armed robbery in Terre Haute ended in a police action shooting.

An indiana state police trooper is on paid administrative leave this evening..

Which is protocol.

That's after firing his gun during a robbery investigation early this morning.

The situation started with an armed robbery in terre haute.

It happened at the marathon gas station on 3rd street.

Senior trooper david petrowski located a vehicle thought to be the suspect.

The trooper tried to stop it..

But the person got out and ran.

Petrowski said he found the suspect in a shooting stance with a handgun pointed at him.

The trooper fired one shot at the suspect..

But didn't hit him.

Other officers arrived..

Helping find and arrest the suspect.

Indiana state police say that man is dewayne hayden junior.

He's from indianapolis.

He faces several charges including armed robbery....and resisting law enforecement.

It is customary for officers to be put on leave when shots
