In douglas county, first reponders are anxiously waiting to recieve the coronavirus vaccine... and officials say it's right around the corner.
Kezi 9 news reporter evita garza shows us how some fire stations are prepping for that first shipment.

Most of them have been hospital workers... and now first responders are next on the list?

However, asisstant fire chief merrill gonterman says they expect to see their first shipment sometime this week.
Phoner: we are very excited and have been looking forward to this coming& so we can do our part to stop the spread of covid?
He says some of his staff have already been vaccinated by umpqua valley ambulence.
He says they recently recived their first shipment and vaccinated their employees& and gave the left- over doses to the fire department.
But when their vaccines get to the fire station& he says he has confidence that everyone will chose to receive it.?we interact with a lot of people in a lot of different circumstances.
Having been vaccinated is going to help slow the spread?
Public health officials have said sixty percent of the population in each county needs to be vaccinated in order to get back to normal.
In douglas county, that about 80 thousand out of 110 thousand people.
