The events at the country's Capitol on Wednesday left many people shocked.

If civil unrest happens in California, Cal Guard says they are ready when a mission needs to be completed.

The events that unfolded at the capitol were felt all over the country including here at home, action news bow reporter esteban reynoso joins us.

Esteban, you spoke with people today, how are they feeling?

I spoke with people from both sides of the aisle, and although some supporters of the president say they wish they couldve been there, its all an agreement that no one supports the violence.

"i'm not necessarily surprised but it's a little disturbing."

"speak freedom instead of putting people in harm's way."

"if i had the money i would be there.

I'm a trump supporter, i voted for him.

Republicans want to meet there, and show their support for the president.

I think they're being pushed into acting violent, and i, i just don't agree with that."

"how crazy everything is, and i think it's just wrong.

I feel like that's not how you should go about doing something that you feel is wrong."

"they are there to show their support, and i see nothing wrong with that."

"if the vote comes out biden, sure, that's election and that's american."

When events like what unfolded at the capitol happen, the national guard is often called in to assist in containing the situation.

And whatever situation arises, they'll be ready.

"that situation when law enforcement agency in a county or a city needs support for whatever the specific incident may be.

They can make a request to the governor.

The governor is our commander and chief.

If there is a mission specific to what the cal guard can support.

They would send us a mission request and we would accept it and therefore support whatever the mission can be."

"republican or democratic, freedom will prevail."

Colonel jonathan shiroma of the cal guard told me this past year, the national guard helped throughout california during the civil unrest in june and the wildfires in september.

If things arise in the state this year, they're prepared.

Alan, back to you.

Mayor muriel bowser of washington d-c placed the city under a curfew that started at 6 p-m local time,
