2 Minute Drill: A reason to root for Tampa Bay, and it's not Tom Brady

There's a reason to root for Tampa Bay in the Super Bowl -- and it's not Tom Brady.

This is SportsCenter 52 minute drill. There's a reason to root for the TampaBay Buccaneers in the Super Bowl.

Thathas nothing to do with Tom Brady.Remember that guy?

It remains to beseen if the Bucks will be crowned NFLchampions, but they are champions fordiversity.

Tampa Bay is the only teamin the NFL in the first team in NFLhistory, with three black coachesfilling the coordinator jobs, theoffensive coordinator relaying place toBrady.

That would be Byron Leftwich. How about the man who designed thedefense that propelled the Bucks toewins this postseason over Drew Breesand Aaron Rodgers?

That would be ToddBowles, the leader of the special teamsunit that limited Green Bay startingposition to its own 23.

And the NFCtitle game is Keith Armstrong, credithead coach Bruce Arians for not onlyleading his team to the Super Bowl butleading the way on diversity.

In doingso, he's making a point bigger and moreimportant than the fact that Bradycould make a Super Bowl without BillBelichick.

Now, hopefully, this is awake up call for the NFL.

Theyunderstand that there are capable blackcoaches that the pipeline of potentialhead coaches is flowing.

It's just thatthe opportunities of run dry so far,we're seven head coaching openings. This offseason, Onley one minoritycoach has been hired and zero blackcoaches.

The only job left is theHouston Texans.

Currently, there areonly two black head coaches among the32 teams in the league, where 70% ofthe players are black.

So they're goodenough to be on the field, but not goodenough to be on the sidelines.

And theeyes of NFL owners.

This despitenumerous attempts by the league toimprove and incentivized minorityhiring.

Look, no one's asking for ahead coaching hand out here.

Don't hirea black coach or coordinator simplybecause of his race or to fill a quota.Do it because they can help you win, because there are ones that can. There's still too many owners who lookat a black coach as an impediment towinning, consciously or subconsciously. While the Buccaneers have resounded.Lee debunked that theory this season. Now you'll hear a lot about the historythat Tampa is making, becoming thefirst team to play the Super Bowl onhis home field.

But the more meaningfullegacy of this Bucks team is remindingthe league that equality and winningthey're not in competition with eachother.

They're on the same team.

That'sthe two minute drill.
