Space Hotel's Builders Get Their First Million

ALTA LOMA, CALIFORNIA — Fox News reports that Orbital Assembly Corp., a California-based startup that wants to pioneer construction in outer space, has hit its one million dollar fundraising goal and aims to start building the world's first "space hotel" in low Earth orbit in 2025.

The hotel would be part of a planned space station called Voyager Station and could be operational as early as 2027, with the infrastructure built in orbit around the Earth.

The space station would resemble a large wheel that would rotate to generate artificial gravity.

The plan is to use construction robots to build this huge wheel in Earth orbit.

After that, a series of pods would be attached to the rotating wheel in modular fashion.

The hotel would include many of the features you might expect from a cruise ship, including themed restaurants, a health spa, a cinema, and rooms for 400 people.

The company gave no details about the construction costs, or the cost of spending a night in the hotel.

However, it did say that costs are getting cheaper thanks to reusable launch vehicles like SpaceX's Falcon 9 and future Starship.
