Colgate defeats Loyola to punch NCAA Tournament ticket

Happened..

-- head coach matt langel and the raiders hosted loyola in their first meeting of the season.

-- the greyhounds , chasing history.

Playing in their first-ever conference championship game and the raiders are looking to make up from last year's disappointing loss.

-- colgate jumped out to a six point lead thanks to back-to- back threes from junior tucker richardson.

He was key for colgate today - had 15 points inthe first half.

-- sophomore ryan moffat cutting baseline he contributed 11 points shot 100% from the field -- almost midway through the first, loyola's kenneth jones loses the ball and jack ferguson comes in hot of the bench and finishes the reverse layup.

Ferguson's presence felt on both ends, he takes a charge which fires up the raiders bench.

Colgate would lead by just 5 at the half.

-- jordan burns and nelly cummings, quiet in the first half just 2 points between the two.

But they'd come in the second on fire from three.

Burns shooting from n-b-a range he finished with 16.

-- the raiders would go up as much as 17 in the second.

It was with less than five minutes on the clock that cummings hits this three and gets the foul.

That and-1 was the dagger.

((score)) victory for colgate and some new hardware.

The raiders win 85-72.

To earn their second title in three years.

Jordan burns: man it feels great this is what we've been battling to do the whole season.

We wish we could've played the championship game the first game of the season so it's been a crazy journey but i'm so glad where the team that came out on top.

Jack ferguson: pretty similar feelings i think this one obviously is better because it's my senior year and we had to go through this year just says every other team dead but yeah there's nothing like it you know these are just memories you're going to remember for the rest of your life and i think we just need to keep cherishing our moments and see what the next week presents us.

Matt langel: i couldn't be more proud of them happy for them excited for what's next.

I've been so fortunate to go to the ncaa tournament as a coach and as a student athlete and i know that this one's going to be a lot different so i think will go into it with full hearts open eyes.

When we figure out who are playing will put a game plan together that we think will give us the best chance but we're gonna play a really good team but we're a good team too so i know that they'll be excited for it and i'm so happy that they get to have this experience.

Ticket punched.

So who are they facing next?
