RFA's Hunzinger to be two-sport collegiate athlete for Houghton College

Three-sport RFA senior will play basketball and field hockey for the Highlanders.

Field and court for the black knights for the better part of the last four years.

Now - she'll do the same for the next four in college.

Hunzinger is set to attend houghton college and one sports wasn't enough for one of the area's premier competitors...she will be playing both field hockey and basketball for the highlanders.

Jace has been a three-sport athlete in high scohol - participating in field hockey - basketball - and lacrosse at r-f-a.

She's a former sports express athlete of the week - and has been a fixture on league and section all-star teams throughout her athletic career.

I caught up with hunzinger to discuss her emotions as she gets set to write her next chapter.

Jace hunzinger: through the roof like completely, everything is aligning right in front of me.

It's so awesome to kind of have it all figured out now and to be presented with the opportunities that i have been from my future college houghton college by the coaches for both field hockey and basketball it's just really awesome.

I feel very blessed for that opportunity because that just made a decision to play both so much easier because obviously you have to factor in all the schoolwork because school comes first for sure but to know that they are going out of their way for me is great.

I visited a couple times and i got to meet both the basketball and field hockey teams a few times and they've been so welcoming and open to me that it's just made everything so easy to be so excited to go there.

Hunzinger said that aside from the sports - another big factor in her decision to go there was the religious factor with it being a christian liberal arts college.

Jace is gearing up and excited for her final lacrosse season at r-f-a beginning next month.
