Will be warmer as highs reach the former director of the quarry hill nature center is expressing concern about the city of rochester's plan to manage its geese population.

Kimt news three's anthony monzon spoke the longtime nature educator and joins us live.

Anthony?

Yeah katie... the rochester park board approved this plan to addle goose eggs last year... a process in which they are treated with oil to prevent them from hatching.

But greg munson ?

"* the former director of quarry hill nature center for 22 years ?

"* has concerns about addling and believes there's a more ethical solution.

Organizations like the humane society say addling is ethical as long as eggs have been incubated for less than two weeks.

However munson says toward the later end of that timeframe embryos go through significant development... leading him to believe addling is inhumane at that stage.

Instead munson believes eggs should be replaced with ceramic lookalikes as they're laid... ensuring embryos don't develop at all before being destroyed.

Munson says he's confident geese at silver lake park are already incubating their eggs... and starting to addle by mid next week is not acceptable "if their eggs were 11 or 12 days old when they go and oil them, and it takes three or four days, whatever it is, to asphixiate or suffocate those young, i've got pictures that show an 11 and a 14 day old goose, and they look quite a bit like a goose."

The city of rochester says addling procedures at silver lake and other areas will be performed under the guidance of the minnesota department of natural resources and the u?

"*s fish and wildlife service.

Live in rochester... anthony monzon... thank you anthony.

Munson says he's spoken to city officials about his concerns.

Kimt has reached out to rochester's park board and parks and recreation department for comment but has not heard back
