House passes bill to create a bipartisan commission to investigate the Capitol riot

The House formally approved legislation to establish an independent commission to investigate the Capitol Hill riot that took place on January 6.

Thirty-five Republicans broke with the party to support the bill.

The bill will now head to the Senate where it’s expected to face resistance from Minority leader Mitch McConnell.
