James Kagambi returned home to a ‘hero’s welcome’ in Kenya on May 23, just over a week after he became the first Kenyan to ever climb Mt.
Everest.
Kagambi was one of seven climbers in the group Full Circle Everest—the first all-Black climbing team to ever reach the top of the world’s tallest mountain.
Their achievement, solidified on May 12, nearly doubled the number of Black climbers who have summited the mountain in its history.
