During the Davis vigil for Tyre Nichols, several call for police accountability.

On Sunday evening, over 60 people gathered in Davis' Central Park for a vigil in memory of Tyre Nichols.

The Memphis Police Department published body camera footage over the weekend showing five now-former officers beating Nichols during a traffic check earlier this month, sparking a wave of demonstrations around the country and prompting the vigil.

Nichols passed away three days later in the hospital.

Currently, many are advocating for changes to police accountability.

Following the fatal police beating, scores of people gathered in Davis to burn candles and write condolences.

Many others claimed that what happened to Nichols hit close to home despite the fact that Davis is more than 2,000 miles from Memphis.
