O'Keeffe then called emergency services, attempted to stop the flow of blood and administered CPR until an ambulance arrived.
According to O'Keeffe, as Kraus was coming in and out of consciousness, he said the word, , "rooster.".
Dr. Ramadan Shatwan said Kraus had died from a lethal cardiac arrhythmia.
Kraus’ daughter, Virginia Guinan, said that the family , "knew his heart was bad.".
Guinan said that she , “realized that it must have been the chicken” , that caused her father’s death.
O'Keeffe said that the chicken that attacked Kraus had a history of being aggressive.
According to Guinan, one of her father's chickens, believed to be the same one that ultimately attacked him, had previously attacked her daughter.
