The Dutch government has spent more than 166 million euros, or $180 million, dealing with the aftermath of the downing of a Malaysia Airlines flight over eastern Ukraine in 2014. The costs identified in an audit that was reported Thursday include repatriating victims’ bodies and investigating and prosecuting those responsible for the downing. MH17 was flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, when it was shot down with a Russian-made Buk missile fired from territory in eastern Ukraine controlled by separatist rebels. The 298 people killed included 196 Dutch citizens. The Dutch government intends to seek compensation from Russia. Moscow denies any role in the downing.
