It's a beautiful rendition...

"My heart's in the Highlands," as Robbie Burns once wrote, and it's a phrase that rings with truth as the 21st century winds its chaotic course.

*Foy Vance* has found himself a new home in the Highlands, succumbing to the beautiful landscapes and the dotted networks of communities clinging on as time and tide perpetually shift.

New album 'Signs Of Life' is incoming, and as a teaser the Northern Irish born artist shared 'Sapling' just a few days ago.

We've grabbed a neat performance clip of this instant fan favourite, shot in a Highland forest. Perhaps its only appropriate, with Foy's voice wrapping itself around the lyrics: “I went looking inside myself for a hope / found only a sapling in search of an oak / but it’s a start my love...”

A song about renewal and survival, 'Sapling' points to wider themes on his new record. He adds: “Me, in my own soft revolution, the world re-emerging in what we’re about to see as we hopefully go back to some semblance of normality. But just life in general – flowers growing through the cracks in Chernobyl. Life finds a way, doesn’t it?”

Introducing this beautiful performance piece, Foy writes: "Every piano deserves to be played in a forest. A Sign of Life in a quiet place. Always great working with the incomparable Seán Óg & Babysweet to capture music in the elements.”

Directed by Foy's creative partner Babysweet, you can watch the clip first on Clash.
