Melissa Barrera axed from 'Scream VII'

Mexican actor Melissa Barrera will not be returning for the next 'Scream' sequel. She has been removed from the cast due to her social media remarks about the Israel-Hamas war, which were viewed as antisemitic. The studio behind the film, Spyglass, has stated that they have zero tolerance for antisemitism. Barrera played the character Sam Carpenter in both 'Scream 2022' and 'Scream VI'. The upcoming seventh film was supposed to feature her as the new franchise lead.
