Withdraw mercy plea or I'll go on fast, Beant killer tells SGPC

On death row over the assassination of Punjab CM Beant Singh in 1995, Balwant Singh Rajoana on Tuesday warned the Akal Takht Jathedar that he would go on hunger strike inside jail if the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) fails to withdraw his mercy petition in 7 to 10 days. Rajoana is in prison since 1995. He made a written appeal to jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh for instructing the SGPC to withdraw the mercy petition filed before the President on his behalf.
