The World Health Organization (WHO) has paid $250 each to at least 104 women in Congo who were sexually abused or exploited by officials during the Ebola outbreak. However, this amount covers less than four months of living expenses in a country where many survive on less than $2.15 a day. The payments were conditional on the women completing training courses. The WHO's response to the sexual abuse and exploitation has been criticized, with recipients stating that the money received was insufficient and that justice was their primary concern.
