shelley--the vanderburgh county sheriff's office unveils a new tool aimed at making the civic center a more secure place.sheriff dave wedding and dave rector from the building authority showed off the new civic center security app this afternoon.the sheriff's office's i-t department worked 16-months to develop the app -- which will send out push alerts if there's a security threat at the civic center. sheriff wedding says the officer involved shooting outside the federal building three weeks ago -- highlighted the need for a way to get security information out quickly.(sheriff dave wedding / vanderburgh county sheriff's office)"(it took) it took us a little longer to develop this app but now that we have it, we've worked all the bugs out. it's live. i think it's going to be very useful for people in and around the civic center."on any given day -- as many as 3-thousand people are at the civic center and courts buidling.the app is now available on the apple or google app stores. 3
