Transcript: Trump Not Invited to Paris Climate Change Summit

President Trump is not invited to the climate change summit in France, according to Reuters.

An official in the French Cabinet said the United States has a special status for the summit and for the time being, Trump isn’t invited.

In June, Trump received criticism from world leaders for saying he would withdraw the United States from the Paris Agreement.

He called the agreement unfair to the United States. (VO* - 5) The Paris climate accord was created in 2015 for nations to ban together to cut global carbon emissions.

President Trump on the other hand has tweeted in the past that climate change is a “hoax” perpetrated by the Chinese, and questioned its existence... on more than one occasion.

According to the Washington Post, Syria recently announced it will join the accord, leaving the United States in isolation from the rest of the world.

Although Trump decided to leave the Paris accord, many US Cities announced they would stick to the rules of the climate accord.
