((susanne)) a man shot last weekend in north little rock has died. police say someone shot 43- year-old 'harold scott' saturday morning on riverfront park drive. he died at the hospital thursday. police do not have any suspects. this is the 8th homicide in north little rock this year. ((susanne)) a late night shooting injures a 15-year-old in garland county. deputies say the teen was shot several times on fernwood street. he's recovering in the hospital right now. no one has been arrested. ((susanne)) a woman and her child-- shot in little rock thursday night. police say both were shot at 26th and lewis. it's unclear how old the child is. they're expected to be ok. no suspects at this time-- so call the little rock police department if you know anything. ((susanne)) authorities make an arrest in a shooting from last week at spanish jon's apartments. michael nelson is accused of shooting his son-- demarcus quince-- in the leg. police found nelson at home in north little rock-- wednesday. he faces several charges-- and is held on a 20-thousand dollar bond. ((susanne)) in magnolia-- a man is in jail after police say he barricaded himself in a home and set it on fire. the home belongs to his former girlfriend's family. police say lacadran thomas was waving a gun at the family - and then set the house on fire. we spoke with the former girlfriend's mother who says they lost everything they owned.
"jacquline ellis/ house was burned down)"and she said mama, guess what done happened. i said, what done happened girl? she said lacadran thomas done burned my house down. i said, where he at? she said, the police got him. and the police need to keep him "((susanne)) we're told-- at one point-- swat tried to get thomas out of the house-- but he escaped and broke into another home where he barricaded himself again! thomas faces several charges. ((susanne)) new this morning-- a sherwood mother apologizes for her actions-- after police say she driving drunk-- then crashed with her three kids inside. authorities arrested 29-year-old chelsea schmidt monday on several charges-- including endangering the welfare of a minor. north little rock police say she crashed into a building off j-f-k and "h" street. they say schmidt was nearly 3 times over the legal limit. her 4-- 1-- and 7-month old children were in the car at the time. ((chelsea schmidt, accused of driving drunk, crashing with kids in car))"this isn't something that happens everyday. it was lunch and stuff -- just had a drink.
"((susanne)) no one was injured-- and no one was inside the building at the time. police estimate around 50- thousand dollars in damages to the building. ((susanne)) hot springs police are looking for two men who allegedly kidnapped a woman wednesday night. the woman-- managed to escape. the 19-year-old told police the kidnappers duct taped her hands-- feet-- eyes and mouth-- then threw her into a car. somehow -- she was able to open the car door when they stopped -- and ran toward the kroger on central avenue. other people are worried about these two men who are still out there. (kierstin carter / lives in hot springs) " that terrifies me because i am 18 also hot springs it's like hot right now it's just the stuff that goes on up here"((susanne)) investigators say the men are driving a gold bmw. police believe the kidnapping is drug-related and say they know who the suspects are. ((susanne)) thursday was the date the governor set for jack greene to be put to death. but-- earlier this week the arkansas supreme court ruled to temporarily halt the execution as lawyers argue he's mentally ill. greene was convicted of brutally murdering a 69- year-old preacher in johnson county. fox16's stephanie sharp sits down with his daughters who say justice is not being served. strum by strum sidney burnett's grandson michael bucker -- doesn't use words to remember his grandfather... he uses music. (irene burton / sidney burnett's daughter)i wish it would've been over because i want to let it go ((susanne)) jack greene is 62-years-old. he is the oldest inmate on death row. attorney general leslie rutledge says she does not have plans to appeal the state supreme court's decision to grant a stay. ((susanne)) we have an update to a story we first brought you on good day yesterday. a 13-year-old runaway teen-- is in custody after police say he drove his grandmother's car to tennessee. here's a look at the car he was driving. authorities tracked him down through on-star. he left his grandparents' house in saline county and ended up in memphis. arkansas authorities told shelby county deputies where the vehicle was. investigators pulled the teen over on i-40. earle farrell, scso"he was just driving along, they put the blue lights on, id'd him, he was in fact the kid out of arkansas." ((susanne)) deputies say the teen told them he had a disagreement with his grandparents-- so he drove to connecticut to visit his girlfriend. the grandparents picked him up in memphis. ((susanne)) this weekend-- hunters from across the state will flock to the woods for opening weekend of "modern gun-- deer season." don't forget-- you need to make sure you pick up the hunting regulations guidelines. but most importantly -- wear hunter orange. that includes a vest and a hat to help you be seen by other hunters. you can hunt a half hour ?before sunrise -- until sunset. new this year-- hunters can tag deer using a smartphone. ralph meeker, deer program coordinator says: this year, if you check your rvt efe ou move it h d'thave tag it.((susanne)) game and fish will also have free testing stations for hunters to have their deer checked for chronic wasting disease the stations wll be open from 7 in the morning to 8 at night all weekend long. they will be located at 11 counties in the state. hunters may bring their deer to any of the sample stations.
