TN's missing Chola-era idol traced to New York

Police have traced a missing idol of goddess Parvathi to Bonhams Auction House in New York. The idol went missing from Nadanapureshwarar temple in Kumbakonam in 1971. The additional director general of police (ADGP) of idol wing CID, Jayanth Murali, said, "We have asked the Department of Homeland Security in the US through the Ministry of External Affairs and Interpol authorities to retrieve the stolen idol according to the mutual treaty between India and the US governments."
