Colton Underwood is a former American football tight end. He played college football at Illinois State and was signed by the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2014. He was also on the practice squad for the Oakland Raiders and Philadelphia Eagles. After retiring from football, Underwood was a contestant on the 14th season of The Bachelorette, and was then announced as the titular bachelor in the 23rd season of The Bachelor.
