Houthi strike on Riyadh airport kills at least 12 and wounds over 300
A Houthi attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh killed at least 12 people and injured more than 300, Saudi authorities said. The Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation reported that the dead included four Saudi citizens and foreign nationals from Bangladesh, Palestine, the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Sudan. Some of the wounded were in critical condition. The strike occurred on Saturday and was the deadliest in a recent wave of attacks on Saudi aviation targets.
The Iran-backed Yemeni group claimed responsibility for attacks over the weekend that it said killed 13 people and targeted two airports as well as oil facilities. Operations at Riyadh’s airport were suspended after the strike. The facility had already been hit several times in the same week, including a Thursday attack that killed three people and damaged an aircraft.
The Saudi-led coalition in Yemen vowed to retaliate, while United Nations and European Union officials condemned the assault. United States President Donald Trump said Washington may join Saudi strikes against the Houthis, and his administration is evaluating a larger military role in Yemen. The surge in Houthi attacks has targeted Saudi airports, military facilities and energy infrastructure since the coalition launched a major offensive against the group.

Among the dead were 15 children. At least 80 Ethiopian migrants survived the sinking and were receiving assistance. Tens of thousands of people from the Horn of Africa cross through Djibouti each year in an attempt to reach the Gulf states via Yemen.
One report citing the UN migration agency put the death toll at 139, higher than the IOM’s confirmed figure of at least 109.

The claim came shortly after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had publicly pushed for a 60-day full ceasefire. Trump provided no details of how the proposed truce would be monitored or verified.
