A civilian-contracted charter aircraft carrying eight people crashed near the Cape Newenham Long Range Radar Site in western Alaska on Thursday, killing two pilots and six passengers, the U.S. military said. All eight people on board died.

NPR – US Christa Pike, 50, convicted of murdering a classmate in Knoxville in 1995, is scheduled to die by lethal injection in Tennessee on Wednesday after Governor Bill Lee denied her clemency request on Monday. If carried out, it would be the state's first execution of a woman in roughly 200 years. Her lawyers have asked the U.S. Supreme Court to grant a stay.
