NPR – US Christa Pike is unconscious and on a ventilator after a botched lethal injection execution attempt in Tennessee, her attorneys said. She is believed to be the first person in the modern U.S. death penalty era to receive lethal injection drugs and survive. Pike, on death row for over 30 years for murder, was brought to a hospital with burned and blistered arms, according to a court filing.
