A fast-growing wildfire known as the Hawk Fire forced thousands of residents to evacuate near Reno, Nevada. The blaze began Saturday and grew to more than 13,000 acres by Sunday, fueled by strong winds, low humidity and dry vegetation. Flames pushed from the Sierra foothills toward central Reno and threatened hundreds of homes near the University of Nevada campus. Nearly 42,000 residents were evacuated.
