NYTimes – US Tennessee death row inmate Christa Pike, convicted of a 1995 murder, made her first public statement since surviving a botched lethal injection in September. She said she remains in constant physical and mental pain and woke up confused and hurt. BBC News – World Residents have begun leaving the Russian-occupied Ukrainian town of Oleshky through an evacuation corridor opened during a temporary local ceasefire. Senior Ukrainian official David Arakhamia said evacuees left for Russia's Anapa city with a Ukrainian delegation and are expected to fly to Belarus before returning to Ukraine by bus. The White House said US first lady Melania Trump helped negotiate the ceasefire and coordinate the humanitarian mission. Several hundred people are understood to have decided to stay in the devastated frontline town, which lacks gas, electricity and running water.
