German authorities said the suspect, identified as Abdul Ballout, had ties to local Islamic groups and that there was a "strong suspicion" of terrorism. After a daylong manhunt, Berlin Police shot and killed him when he reportedly rushed at officers with a knife on Sunday evening. Mourners later laid flowers near the Brandenburg Gate.
UNESCO has added Mount Olympus, Greece’s highest peak and mythical home of the ancient Greek gods, to its World Heritage List after a 12-year campaign by Greek officials.
