NYTimes – US A major flash flood swept through the Grand Canyon in Arizona on Saturday afternoon, leaving one person dead and around 15 people missing or unaccounted for, according to the National Park Service. The flooding hit Bright Angel Canyon and the Phantom Ranch area, destroying nearly all footbridges across Bright Angel Creek and prompting the evacuation of at least 62 people. Popular sites including Bright Angel Campground, the North Kaibab Trail and Phantom Ranch remained closed on Sunday.
