NYTimes – World German police shot and killed Abdul Ballout, 21, the suspect in a vehicle ramming at Berlin’s Pride event and a subsequent knife rampage, after he reportedly rushed officers with a knife in Spandau. The Saturday night attack at Tiergarten park left at least one person dead and 16 to dozens injured. Police said Ballout had links to Islamist circles and there was a “strong suspicion” of terrorism.

UNESCO has added Mount Olympus, Greece’s highest peak and mythical home of the ancient Greek gods, to its World Heritage List after a 12-year campaign by Greek officials. The designation was announced on 26 July 2026. Evangelos Geroliolios, a longtime climber, was among those who had long advocated for the mountain’s protection.
