Andy Burnham Takes Office as UK Prime Minister, Names John Healey Chancellor

Andy Burnham became United Kingdom prime minister on Monday, succeeding Keir Starmer, and appointed John Healey as chancellor. On his first day, Burnham visited a homeless shelter, met King Charles III and spoke by phone with U.S. President Donald Trump. Healey, who had served as defense secretary in the previous government, will oversee spending, debt and economic policy.
