England braces for extreme heat as amber alerts issued

The Met Office has issued an 'extreme heat' warning for parts of England on Thursday, with temperatures forecast to reach 38C. Amber heat health alerts cover almost all of England until Friday evening due to high and extreme temperatures. Sky reported that many areas face a fifth summer heatwave, with highs of 36C forecast. The Met Office said only average conditions are needed for the rest of August for Summer 2026 to become the UK's hottest on record.
