NYTimes – Business Fed Holds Interest Rates Steady Before Midterms
The US Federal Reserve left interest rates unchanged on Wednesday in its final decision before the midterm elections, keeping rates at one of the highest pre-election levels in more than 20 years. Fed chair Kevin Warsh said politics played no role in the pause, even though inflation remains above 3% and recent months have seen price acceleration partly tied to oil and gas spikes from the Iran war. Markets had widely expected the hold.
