Grand Canyon Flash Floods

Flash flooding struck the Grand Canyon on Saturday afternoon, leaving one person dead and about 15 others missing or unaccounted for, according to the National Park Service. The floods hit Bright Angel Canyon and the Phantom Ranch area, washing out footbridges over a creek leading to the Colorado River and prompting dozens of evacuations. Popular sites including Bright Angel Campground, the North Kaibab Trail and Phantom Ranch remained closed on Sunday as officials warned that more flash floods could occur.
