Sky News – World Former German Spy Chief Charged with Espionage and Treason
Former German foreign intelligence chief August Hanning has been arrested and is due in court Wednesday on suspicion of espionage and attempted treason. Prosecutors allege he paid for secret intelligence documents and used them to prepare an analysis for a foreign intelligence service. His former chief of staff was also arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting attempted treason. The case could strain Berlin's ties with allied spy agencies.
