Sky News – World Former German spy chief arrested on treason and espionage suspicions
Former German foreign intelligence chief August Hanning has been arrested on suspicion of treason and espionage. Prosecutors allege he paid for secret intelligence documents and used them to prepare an analysis for a foreign intelligence service. His former chief of staff was also arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting attempted treason. Hanning led the Federal Intelligence Service from 1998 to 2005 and is due to appear in court.
