Hegseth Fires Top Pentagon Planner Over Alleged Leaks

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth fired Army Lt. Gen. Brett Sylvia as head of strategy, plans and policy on the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Hegseth accused Sylvia of leaking information to the news media, according to one report; a Pentagon official told CBS the firing concerned apparent misconduct with classified information on the Iran and Russia-Ukraine wars. Sylvia was the second general removed under Hegseth in that role.
